Prague - a beautiful city III

Castles -

The Baroque Prague Castle and older Vysehrad Fortress take up opposing ends of the Vltava River in Prague. Both are interesting to visit and present very different examples of fortified locations.

Cathedrals and Basilicas -

The Cathedrals and Basilicas of Prague are some of the most amazing we have seen in Europe.

Prague - a beautiful city!

Our stay in Prague was the longest in our Europe sojourn - 11 days. We had a wonderful time and visited many museums, bridges, castles and Czech pubs! We can't wait to go back...it really is as enchanting as people say and it is cheaper than it's European neighbours (although not dirt cheap as some people make out!). Jo also celebrated her birthday in Prague so it was a doubley special stay. Here are some of the things we did and sights we saw.

Buildings and architecture -

Wherever you walk in Prague there are beautiful Baroque and Art Deco buildings to admire. It is an attraction in itself.

Vienna - the Prater and Coffee Houses

More photos of our fun day at the Prater and Jason's favourite Viennese Coffee House - Cafe Sperl.

Vienna - the city of music, museums and more schnitzel!

We travelled from Salzburg to Vienna and stayed in this wonderful city for three nights. While in Vienna we tried schnitzel and goulash (again!), visited the Natural History Museum and the Prater and enjoyed the many parks, cityscapes and coffee houses on offer! Jason found the best (and quite expensive!) Viennese Coffee House called Cafe Sperl.

Vienna can be quite expensive for visitors - lots of museums (that range from € 6-10 each), cafes and restaurants, concerts and tours. Don't forget the Underground - we stayed a distance outside the city centre and had to add on an extra € 3 a day for Underground costs. To minimise our expenses we only visited one museum and opted for free sightseeing (ie - walking around the city, admiring buildings and parks). We also visited the Naschmarket - a fabulous and interesting outdoor food and clothes market, where you can also buy cheap meals.

Here are some photos...
