We've arrived in the UK!!!

Okay, so we arrived a while ago...we've just been too busy (read here lazy)to update the blog. So here goes...

We arrived in London on the 12th May, flying in from Prague on EasyJet. The flight was uneventful and the immigration queue at Gatwick was virtually non-existent so after catching two different trains we found ourselves in merry old London (it's not easy negotiating backpacks on the Underground)! We stayed with a friend for five days in Tooting Broadway and enjoyed a variety of London's best weather...cold...wet...cloudy...wet...cold...sunshine... cloudy again. We really enjoyed the Camden Markets and spent a fair bit of time there during our stay. The cheap but delicious food was great and the markets were always interesting. We also enjoyed a tour of Harrods and stopped for a coffee which almost left us out of pocket! Geez that place is expensive. We tried a traditional hot, greasy English Breakfast, feeling quite over the sight and smell of oil afterwards! When it wasn't raining we also spent some time walking around the parks and sights of the city centre and sat by the Thames for a while watching London life pass us by.

After a week we made our way to Canterbury and enjoyed the sights of this lovely city. The weather was much warmer in Canterbury so we enjoyed walking in the parks and around the cobblestone streets much more than in London!

Views of the Canterbury Cathedral Spire and Cathedral Gate through city centre streets -

Park and river scenes on a beautiful sunny day in the Western Gate gardens of Canterbury. We enjoyed large, freshly made, doorstop sized sandwiches while soaking up the rays in this park -

Duckies!
